A Boston art gallery is asking for help after its building was flooded following a water main break in Boston on Friday.

“We cannot believe we are sharing that the water main outside of the gallery burst once again, and it was actually a worse flood than last week!” read a post from the Piano Craft Gallery on Facebook.

A water main broke on Tremont Street early Friday morning, resulting in a street closure with outbound traffic between Tremont Street and Camden Street, according to the Boston Water and Sewer Commission.

Repairs continued through Saturday until it was fully restored in the evening, the commission wrote in a post on X at 10:28 p.m.

The art gallery was “in the process of picking up the pieces from last week,” according to its Facebook post. Prior to this incident, the water main broke on Oct. 1. A 20-inch water main broke and left significant damage to the road, the commission posted on X. Officials excavated to replace 16 feet around the water main with a “new pipe and [a] contractor will pave [the] entire affected section, the commission wrote in a follow-up post.

“We had a crew out all night clearing the water, but the space is in worse shape and most of our storage was also flooded causing damage to pedestals, electronics, and some stored artwork,” Friday’s post read.

A GoFundMe set up to help the art gallery expand was updated to ask for help for “flood restoration and reopening support.”
