Transfer Talk: Man United plot swoop on Madrid target Davies

The winter transfer window won’t reopen in Europe for a while yet, but there are plenty of moves in the works and gossip swirling around. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Man United join race with Madrid for Bayern’s Davies

Manchester United have joined Real Madrid in the race for Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies, reports Sky Sports Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg.

The Red Devils are understood to be keen to add to their left-back options. Currently, United have Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, however, the pair both have experienced injury troubles, which has led the Premier League giants to consider other players in the transfer market.

The Canada international is out of contract at Bayern Munich at the end of the season and it is reported that there have been no concrete talks regarding a new deal. However, despite Davies’ current position, the tweet indicates that United do not believe their chances to be high regarding the possibility of landing the defender.

Davies has shown glimpses of recapturing his form at the Bavarian club, with the German giants not opposed to the possibility of extending his contract. Alongside this, Real Madrid have also been heavily linked with a move for Davies, as Los Blancos look to take advantage of the potential opportunity to secure Davies on a free transfer.

PAPER GOSSIP

Liverpool are monitoring Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens, reports Football Insider. It is reported that the Premier League giants are keeping tabs on the 20-year-old Englishman and Dortmund are willing to part ways with the youngster for the right price. The report reveals that the German outfit will seek a fee between £40 million to £50 million to allow Gittens to depart, however, it is understood that any deal is unlikely to be finalised in January and will instead be more likely to take place in the summer.

Paris Saint-Germain have renewed their interest in Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, reports TeamTalk. PSG held an interest in the English winger last summer, however, a deal never materialised. Despite this, the report reveals that the French giants have rekindled their interest in Rashford, who has struggled for consistency at Old Trafford over the past year. This inconsistency could see United part ways with Rashford, however, with the England international under contract until 2028, the Red Devils are under no immediate pressure to find a suitor.

Hannover 96 forward Nicolo Tresoldi has attracted interest from across Europe, reports Sky Sports Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg. The tweet indicates that clubs from the Bundesliga, Premier League and Serie A have all expressed an interest in the Germany under-21 international, who has notched one goal and one assist so far this season. It is reported that with Tresoldi under contract until 2026 and no discussions over a new deal taking place, a transfer looks likely next summer, with the striker open to a move.

– Liverpool remain confident that they can secure deals for at least two of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, reports TeamTalk. The trio, who have been instrumental to Liverpool for several years, all see their deals with the Reds expire at the end of the season. Alexander-Arnold has reportedly garnered interest from Real Madrid whilst Salah has seen numerous links to Saudi Arabia over the past year.

AC Milan are evaluating a potential swoop for Feyenoord striker Santiago Giménez, reports Calciomercato. The Mexico international caught the eye of the Serie A giants last season, and whilst there was interest in the summer, a move did not materialise. However, the report suggests that a move can be viable. Giménez is understood to be keen on a switch the Rossoneri, and the release clause of €50m can be lowered to €40m with bonuses included.
