Report: Bucks Could Soon Make Big Trade

For the last week, fans across the NBA have been wondering what’s next for the Milwaukee Bucks.

With rumors of Giannis Antetokounmpo possibly asking for a trade if the team doesn’t get better, all eyes are on Milwaukee’s track record – and their future.

Writing for ESPN, via NBACentral, Brian Windhorst revealed that the Bucks are looking for a big trade, but not the one some fans might be fearing.

“The speculation is true. The Bucks are indeed starting to canvas the league for a trade, league executives told ESPN. But no, not that trade,” Windhorst wrote.

He went on, “Teams have let the Bucks know in recent months that they will make an offer for the Greek Freak if that day ever comes. But those are incoming calls, not outgoing, and it’s likely to remain that way.”

Finally, Windhorst added, “But the Bucks are going to have a tough time finding anything substantial. Because Milwaukee is in the second apron of the luxury tax, it is prohibited from aggregating salaries to make a deal and from taking back more money than it sends out.

So, while other teams are eager to see how they can get Antetokounmpo, the Bucks aren’t ready to start accepting calls about him, at least not yet.

But they do want some backup to surround Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, and Khris Middleton (when he starts playing again).

However, they’re in a tough spot because of the luxury tax of the NBA, which severely limits their options.

What makes this situation even harder is that if they don’t shake things up and acquire more talent, the chances of Antetokounmpo leaving will only grow.

It’s been said before but this season really is incredibly pivotal for the Bucks.

They need to do something substantial or else they could leave their biggest star and face a very uncertain path forward.
