Last year, the Detroit Lions were able to live up to and exceed expectations as Dan Campbell’s squad was able to reach the NFC Championship Game to take on the San Francisco 49ers.
Unfortunately, the Lions were unable to get by the 49ers, as they fell apart in the second half of that NFC Championship Game, but they have come into this 2024 NFL regular season on a mission to take another step forward, and they are well on their way to doing just that.
After a dominant performance against the division-rival Green Bay Packers in Week 9, Detroit looks like the team to beat in the NFC moving forward, which is a sentiment shared by Nick Wright of FOX Sports.
However, Wright also believes the Lions aren’t good enough to take down the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs with Jared Goff under center if Detroit and Andy Reid’s squad make it to the big game in February via First Things First.
“Detroit, right now, is the deserving NFC favorite, and I really hope they win the conference because I don’t think you can beat this Chiefs team with an immobile quarterback,” Wright said.

The Lions made a move to address the defense ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, with the team filling the void left by the injured Aidan Hutchinson by bringing in Za’Darius Smith from the Cleveland Browns.
The move should help the team improve defensively in the second half of the season, but it remains to be seen if it is enough for this team to win it all this year.
