A FORMER Tesco employee has spilled the beans on six secrets the popular supermarket doesn’t want the public to know – including the simple way you can make over £700 in a flash.
The ex-worker, only known as Freddie, took to TikTok to drop some knowledge bombs – and they may come in handy next time you’re doing your grocery shopping.

So, if you’re planning to visit the local Tesco any time soon, best keep on reading as these tips could slash your bill at the tills.
The exact time to snap up cut-price goodies
According to the former staff member, who goes by the username @freddieliftss on the platform, it’s best to pop into the store in the evening, any time from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
”This is when yellow discount stickers get done. If you have Clubcard, that’s even more money off discounted items,” the fitness lover told his followers in the video.
The sports enthusiast also added that if you spot an employee with the yellow sticker gun, it’s worth asking them for a sticker on your item too – as ”nine out of ten times” this works, as long as you ”ask nicely”.
Baked goods – not so ”fresh”
What better way to start your day than with a slice of toast and some jam?
Well, according to the 27-year-old, customers should know that ”hardy anything in the store is fresh”.
”It’s all bought into the store frozen and baked whenever they need more of that stock.”
Spilling the secrets, the fitness super fan explained that ”it’s about the wording which catches people out”.
Leftover Christmas stuff
With the festive season less than 100 days away, many of us have already started to do the manic Christmas shopping, whether it’s gifts or baubles.
If you’re planning to buy all the essentials from Tesco, the ex-employee warned that ”a lot of the Christmas products that get put out early are either from last Christmas leftover stock or from the beginning of the year”.
This, he explained, is allegedly ”due to getting a huge discount bulk buying”.
Make £750 in a flash
Millions of cash-strapped households are on the lookout for easy ways to rake in some extra money – and according to Freddie, the mega supermarket has come to rescue with a secret shopper programme.
He explained: ”You can become a product reviewer for Tesco buy going to Shop.rate750.com and get a voucher worth up to £750.”
He claimed: ”This has started to be advertised in the larger Tesco stores around the country. It’s available for anyone though and is already helping so many people.”
When to bag yellow sticker bargains
Aldi: Look for red stickers near closing time, offering up to 75% off perishable items and 30% off damaged packaging goods.
Asda: Discounts happen twice daily, in the morning and evening. Early risers can find fresh produce for as low as 10p.
Lidl: Price cuts occur first thing in the morning and before closing. Use the Lidl Plus app for additional weekly promotions.
Marks and Spencer: Reductions often occur near closing time. Monthly in-store offers and combo deals, like the £12 Dine In for Two, provide extra savings.
Morrisons: Yellow sticker discounts appear throughout the day. Register for a More Card to get specific day-based discounts, like 20% off fish on Fridays.
Sainsbury’s: No set discount times; look for yellow ‘reduced’ stickers. Register for Nectar prices for nearly 50% off weekly offers.
Tesco: No fixed discount times. Check the “mark-down section” in 300 stores for reduced-price items like salads, bread, and meat.
Expired food
Who doesn’t love a cheeky meal deal, especially when you’re on the go or haven’t had the time to whip up a scrumptious dinner the night before?
Tesco is known for its huge variety of meal deals that won’t break the bank – but Freddie urged customers to check the expire dates carefully.
The former employee, who worked at the shop for years, claimed: ”We’ve found meal deals that are way past their expiry date that have been freshly put in the fridges.
”So, always double-check the dates – this happens a lot more often than you think.”
Plants in low quality soil
Whether you want to add some greenery to your home or bag plants that can help tackle mould this winter, Tesco has plenty of options.
But Freddie warned to give the plants a miss as the store allegedly uses ”the lowest quality soil”.
”They just want you to come back and spend more on new plants.”
