The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association released its field hockey and girls volleyball state tournament brackets Wednesday afternoon after a delay due to a court injunction.
A total of 137 teams made the field hockey postseason over four divisions, while 197 teams made the girls volleyball postseason over five divisions.
The court injunction determined that the MIAA had to accept the results of Minnechaug field hockey and girls volleyball’s Western Massachusetts Tournament games instead of replacing those results with forfeits. The forfeits came as the result of an agreement between the MIAA and the Pioneer Valley Interscholastic Athletic Conference over schedules that were improperly submitted by more than a dozen schools, including Minnechaug.
