A lot of the talk about who will win this season’s NBA championship is centered around the Boston Celtics, who won it all last season, and to a lesser extent, the New York Knicks, who added Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns to a roster that was already impressive.

But out West, there is another team that seems to have a real shot at hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy this summer.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are considered the best team in the Western Conference, and Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, who owns four world championship rings, said they have “special talent,” per ClutchPoints.

Any discussion about the Thunder has to start with superstar guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, whom Green called “one of the best players in the league.”

Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 30.1 points and 6.2 assists a game last season and finished second in the MVP voting while leading the Thunder to the best record in the West.

Forward Jalen Williams is a rising star, and everyone sees stardom in the near future for big man Chet Holmgren, who has put up 23.7 points, 13.0 rebounds and a league-high 4.0 blocked shots a game to start the season.

One impressive thing about Oklahoma City is the fact that despite being a young team, they’re an excellent defensive team.

They will have a marquee matchup on Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs, which means Holmgren will go up against Victor Wembanyama, and both big men could be staging some intense battles against each other for at least the next decade.
