Robert Saleh is now out after three seasons and change as the New York Jets’ head coach, and the debate has begun on whether they were right to fire him.

An argument could be made that were it not for a missed field goal late in Week 4 against the Denver Broncos and a late intercepted pass from quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Sunday versus the Minnesota Vikings, the Jets would be 4-1 right now.

But the team definitely has issues, and according to CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco, those issues start with Rodgers.

Prisco says that Rodgers is essentially the team’s coach, general manager and owner and that he essentially got Saleh fired because he doesn’t like Saleh.

Rodgers is one of the greatest quarterbacks of the past 10-15 years and a definite first-ballot Hall of Famer, but he has received plenty of criticism over the last couple of years for exerting too much power over his teams.

It started during his last couple of seasons with the Green Bay Packers, when he reportedly wanted too much power over play-calling decisions.

Rodgers, who has 1,093 passing yards, seven touchdown passes, four interceptions and a 61.0 percent pass completion rate, clearly isn’t the same player he was just three or four years ago.

He tore his Achilles on his first offensive series as a member of the Jets a year ago, and that injury combined with 15 prior years of wear and tear as a QB1 has likely rendered him a shell of his old self.

Overall, the Jets are just 25th in points scored and 27th in total yards right now.
