J.B. Bickerstaff Is Implementing A New Policy With Pistons

If head coach J.B. Bickerstaff is going to turn the fate of the Detroit Pistons around, he will need to shake up the team’s culture in a huge way.

He already has some plans about how to make that happen.

According to The Athletic, via NBACentral, Bickerstaff has ruled that Pistons players are no longer allowed to wear hoodies during practices.

Bickerstaff explained this rule:

“Just the last shred of that old-school mentality. Just growing up with my dad, you don’t wear anything on your head during the game. You don’t wear jewelry. You practice how you play.”

In essence, Bickerstaff wants his team to take everything much more seriously.

He wants them to approach every single practice session like a game and believes this will instill a deeper level of respect and dedication into all they do.

This won’t be the only change Bickerstaff will make, of course, because the Pistons are in bad shape.

They ended last season with a downright painful 14-68 record.

They were literally one of the worst teams in the history of the league.

After the front office let former head coach Monty Williams go, they tasked Bickerstaff with the responsibility of getting the team on the right track.

To make that happen, he will have to rebuild just about everything from the ground up.

He is going to alter the team and change how they view themselves and the game.

Few people think the Pistons will make massive leaps and bounds in 2024-25 but they could at least seem like they are making progress.

Bickerstaff has some big plans and now it’s time to see if they work out.
