Coming into Thursday night’s game against the Houston Texans on Halloween, the New York Jets have lost five straight games, even though the team has made an effort to make drastic changes, like firing longtime head coach Robert Saleh and trading for superstar wide receiver Davante Adams.
Along with everything the Jets have dealt with throughout this 2024 NFL season, New York continues to hold out hope that they can right the ship and potentially clinch a playoff spot in the AFC.
However, things seem to be getting progressively tricky for the storied franchise, as the squad can’t seem to get back on track offensively, even with superstar Aaron Rodgers under center.
Things got tougher heading into tonight’s game against the Texans, with veteran wide receiver Allen Lazard being placed on the injured reserve list, meaning he’ll miss at least the next four games, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Despite the arrival of Adams in the trade with the Las Vegas Raiders, the loss of Lazard is significant, as he was one of Rodgers’ favorite targets in the passing game.
Before going down with the chest injury, Lazard caught 30 catches for 412 yards and five receiving touchdowns.
With Lazard on the mend and out of the lineup for at least the next four games, Rodgers will be looking more in the direction of Adams and Garrett Wilson to shoulder the load, which they are more than capable of doing.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Jets fair on Thursday against one of the best teams in the league in a must-win situation for New York.
