The Philadelphia 76ers did a great job of adding to their roster in the offseason with the most notable move being their free-agent signing of Paul George.
While bringing in George was a massive win for the organization, their title hopes hinge on Joel Embiid.
Embiid played for Team USA during the 2024 Olympics and looked healthy doing so, but has not played in the preseason so far as he is managing his left knee.
Embiid suffered a knee injury midway through the regular season last year and has been diligently working toward being fully healthy for the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season.
With that in mind, Philadelphia is choosing to sit their superstar big man for the remainder of their preseason slate via Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
“Joel Embiid is out for the remainder of the preseason, 76ers say. He was assessed by doctors on Thursday as part of his left knee management. He’s progressing well and will continue to take part in an individual treatment plan designed to best support his health and wellness for the 2024-25 season,” Scotto reported.

This is the smart move for the 76ers as there’s no need to risk Embiid hurting himself in meaningless preseason games.
While it’s good to get some reps before the start of the season, Philadelphia knows that they’ll need Embiid down the line to get them over the hump.
For now, Embiid is on track to be ready for Opening Night though all eyes will be on his health throughout the regular season and playoffs.
